Interior Peace

I truly believe we cannot attain interior peace unless we learn interior silence.

When my interior life feels rattled, like a simple sailboat on violent waters, it is because I have not quieted my faculties, as the ancients often taught. As I reflected on this, I remembered this from my beloved John from Toledo:

“Wisdom enters through love, silence, and mortification. It is great wisdom to know how to be silent and to look at neither the remarks, nor the deeds, nor the lives of others.”
