Honour demands

“Outdo one another in showing honour.”

Imagine if we replaced the word “kindness” with “honour”. What would the world look like? Better, I’m sure.

There’s not really much responsibility towards yourself or another person when it comes to kindness. Often, the extent of responsibility is simply “not to be mean”. That seems juvenile.

Honour demands. It is active. It involves acknowledging yourself and the other as persons with intrinsic dignity. It is more powerful than kindness.
