Lesser Knowns [Part I]

Social justice is predicated on the life, dignity, and responsibility of the human person.

This is why we must keep one another accountable and always do the courageous thing- whether it’s defending human rights, being stewards of the environment, standing up against violence, and calling out injustices against our brothers and sisters.

But the thing with the virtue of justice - when it is isolated from mercy and charity, it degenerates into a form of violence. For justice devoid of mercy and charity can only turn inward and makes difficult any path towards new life, restoration, and reconciliation.

We cannot and will not see this in society if it is not FIRST practiced amongst ourselves, our friends, our neighbours, our strangers, those we have wronged and those who have wronged us. Since we live in a society, none of us can think we are exempt from the concern for the vulnerable and for social justice issues.

For otherwise, we mute ourselves from a beautiful melodious life and world. We do it, no one else.
