Fragility [Part I]

“The beauty and preciousness of life is intimately linked to its fragility and mortality” - Henri Nouwen

I remember Jim telling me, “Christine, you’ll see. As you get older, life goes by quicker and quicker. And, the next thing you know, you’re 67 years old and picking out your plot in a cemetery.”

At a natural level, time is unchanged. Subjectively, however, I agree with good old Jim. It speeds up and your life resembles a caricature of a waiter balancing 1000 glasses. Before time decides to steer us towards our drop off point and our hourglass runs out of sand, we have two options:

The first is to get caught in the balancing act and make that our life, tumbling off the ship at the drop point, unprepared.

Or.

The second is to narrow our vision and focus on the parts of life that slow down time.
— And that is a very personal experience.

What are the moments in your life, where time - the infamous creature - stands still?
