Miner for a Heart of Gold

The number of people we encounter in life are numerous - friends, acquaintances, family, strangers, and peripherals.

But then, there is that one person or three over of the course of our whole life who really stand out. Not because of any accomplishment, or great outward gesture. The whole of their being is at once a threat and a refuge.

We mine. We dig up and search for these people. Like a pearl, or like gold. They may end up being that mentor, friend, lover, or something else.

I know I dig and search too. For in the words of good man Neil,

“I’ve [too] been a miner for a heart of gold.”

How many of those gems have you discovered in your life?
