Consistency

Consistency.

We do it for our bodies - eating well, drinking enough water, working out. We do so so we aren’t walking around with limp organs, or saggy arms or legs. So that we can walk upright, on our feet, and live our lives.

We’re quick to point our fingers towards other people on their behaviour, or anyone other than ourselves. People lacking in basic values such as integrity, loyalty or compassion. But I can’t really blame them. I know they are in a deficit because they lacked practice. They were not consistent in building their character.

But that’s us too. It’s more than pop self-help gurus telling us to work on ourselves. It’s a lifelong apprentice. In each second of our lives, do we choose the better option, or are we ok to breeze through life with limp and saggy characters and personalities. Sure, everyone is entitled to their behaviour, however, it’s a form of selfishness and naïveté to think that your lack of character when it matters does not affect anyone.

Let’s be consistent in word and deed.
